The Village of Bellapais takes great pride in its ability to remain quality and enchanting throughout the many years and periods of its existence. Many people select to visit this Northern Cryprus area for many reasons, much as its unaltered beauty, culture, and simplicity. Ayios Minas Church
Saint Minas Church, built in 1843, is a building, which has two passageways, which are divided by heavy pillars.There is a large early 18th Century icon there, depicting Saint Minas on a horse. Ayios Minas parish church lies in the east of the town. The church was erected in 1843. Ayios Minas was born in Egypt. He was a soldier in the army of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. He converted to Christianity. Subsequently he followed the monastic life. He outspokenly preached the Christian faith. For this reason he was brutally tortured by the pagans who in the end decapitated him. His remains were buried in Lake Mareotidha in Egypt, where Arkadhios constructed a magnificent temple. In this same parish high up on an imposing rock lies the Chapel of Ayios Yeorghios Spiliotis ST George the Caveman. (more…)

Larnaca is a city on the southeast coast of Cyprus. The better foreign airport of Cyprus, Larnaca International Airport is turned up in this city. In past times, Larnaca was cognized as Kition, or in Latin Citium. The biblical name Kittim, though deduced from Citium, was in fact utilized quite generally for Cyprus as an entire, and occasionally by the Hebrews for the Greeks and Romans. Cyprus and the Romans
Cyprus has seen many invaders and rulers come and go over the years including the Roman empire. Before the arrival of Rome the Island was under the control of Egypt around the time of Queen Cleopatra. Much bargaining was executed between her, Mark Antony and Caesar himself as she tried to keep onto what was gone forth of her empire. In fact Cyprus was temporarily went through over to Cleopatra first by Julius Caesar and then later by Mark Antony only to retrovert to Roman control in 30 BC as a senatorial province. The events leading up to this time have been well affirmed and most readers will be alive of some of what traveled on between this ablaze power maddened love triangle. It appeared like the Romans where here to stay but for them at least the stating “all acceptable things come to an end” was eventually to ring truthful. Empires rise only to fall so the Romans were not ordained to stay in Cyprus for ever and although they left an enduring legacy on the Island it is Greek culture that has lasted the test of time
