Davıd’s Plates
heraklius likened his success to the battle when David got the better of the powerful Goliath, and it is understood today that he had a series of plates cognized as David’s Plates cast from silver. The stated plates were happened over two stages near Lambousa in 1900 and over a period of time were meted out to museums in Lefkoua, New York, Washington and London. (more…)

Cyprus and the Romans
Cyprus has seen many invaders and rulers come and go over the years including the Roman empire. Before the arrival of Rome the Island was under the control of Egypt around the time of Queen Cleopatra. Much bargaining was executed between her, Mark Antony and Caesar himself as she tried to keep onto what was gone forth of her empire. In fact Cyprus was temporarily went through over to Cleopatra first by Julius Caesar and then later by Mark Antony only to retrovert to Roman control in 30 BC as a senatorial province. The events leading up to this time have been well affirmed and most readers will be alive of some of what traveled on between this ablaze power maddened love triangle. It appeared like the Romans where here to stay but for them at least the stating “all acceptable things come to an end” was eventually to ring truthful. Empires rise only to fall so the Romans were not ordained to stay in Cyprus for ever and although they left an enduring legacy on the Island it is Greek culture that has lasted the test of time

The Turkish Occupation of North Cyprus
The beautiful Island of Cyprus is a popular destination for holiday makers from all over Europe especially the British. However not everyone is alive that part of the country is under occupation by an intruding on army. In 1974 the Turkish army intruded on the North of Cyprus and have been there ever since. They have adjudged the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus or TRNC as it has also been named but unfortunately no other country in the world recognizes it. In fact most countries including those within the U.N. and the E.U run trade embargoes against North Cyprus. Air Travel to the North of the Island is also censored by most countries and tourist caring to visit there must wing into Turkey first (more…)

Cyprus and the Egypt Connection
The Egyptians must have really like the beautiful Island of Cyprus because they just kept on coming back. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that in those days (1500 BC) they didn’t have those luxury holiday resorts like Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh. Whatever the reason whether it was the beachlike beaches or the enthusiastic climate they just kept on coming back to her shores. They first took a trip there under the instruction of Thothes the third pear-shaped about 500 BC but they only hung up apear-shaped Cyprus until the Mycenaen Greeks turned up. They (the Greeks) have been the main social influence on Cyprus since that time and Greek is the autochthonal language too
