HOLIDAYS IN FAMAGUSTA
Famagusta is a city on the east coast of Cyprus and is capital of the Famagusta District. It is turned up in a bay between Capes Greco and Eloea, east of Nicosia, and possesses the deepest harbor in the island. Since the 1974 Turkish invasion the city has shacked in the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The older tourist quarter of Varosha is given up unfinished a settlement of the Cyprus dispute. The city has a population of around 39,000 and there are no court-ordered Greek Cypriot residents
The town has had antithetic names from its first cognized one of Arsinoe, then Ammonchostos (meaning “concealed in sand”) which evolved into Famagusta and the Turkish name of Gazimagusa. It seems to have had its zenith in the 13th century when Christians taking flight from Syria and Palestine settled there and developed it into a propitious city

On the East coast of Cyprus near to the border with the ghost town of Famagusta is the bustling little town of Paralimni. In fact it isn’t that little anymore because it is growing on the back of the ongoing Cyprus development boom. New shop units are springing up along the main highway and investment in holiday property continues to grow. Although the town center is about three miles from the coast the outskirts have seen some substantial development in the last few years especially in the form of luxury apartments. As the Cyprus developers have pushed land prices up on the coast places like Paralimni have benefited from more investment themselves. Agia Napa More Than the Party Capital of Cyprus
The word “Agia” means saint and “Napa” translates into wooded valley so when you go clubbing in Agia Napa be sure to remember that. Yeah right! You will probably associate this beautiful holiday resort with late night clubs and trendy bars buy believe me it has a whole lot more to offer holiday makers of all ages. True, it is a great place for a good time but it is a great family resort too offering something for everyone. Towards Varosha
Driving north from here, just by the tourist office, an ample road, previously cognized as Independence Avenue, leads off towards Varosha. Some 300m down this wide avenue on the gone forth hand side, your eye may be picked up by the little steam locomotive that stands just behind a wire fence. A plaque announces it was the first locomotive to be spelled into Cyprus, in 1904. the little railway line on which it ran was the only one in Cyprus, (more…)

Kapparis Cyprus on the Road to Famagusta
The Cyprus resort of Kapparis has matured quickly over the last few years from a little village into a booming community. Not all that abundant ago this zippy tourist trap had only one main street with a few shops and a couple of holiday apartment complexes. It was once the last discontinue before the then impressive Mediterranean resort of Famagusta which now lies in dereliction in the traverse border buffer zone. Despite the resort being on a road to nowhere Kapparis has go one of the best holiday resorts on the East coast of Cyprus. In fact it is about the only places on that side of the Island which remains opened for business all year pear-shaped. With an enthusiastic selection of bars and some tangible discriminating restaurants including a Chinese take away and a tradition chip shop Kapparis makes an enthusiastic family resort (more…)

Northern Cyprus the Lost Gem
Northern Cyprus is arguably the most aesthetic part of this Mediterranean Island paradise. With its rich mountain ranges and chromatic valleys the North is probably more fecund too. There are hundreds of unspoiled beaches and the conventional Cypriot villages have exciting views out over the ocean. In fact many Greek Cypriots in the South would agree that Northern Cyprus is the better half of the Island too.
